Barb Hansen was born in Canada, and currently lives in Colorado. She was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2006 at age 60. Her diagnosis was not quick. She broke a rib and was in a lot of pain. She was having a hard time moving around and developed an unusual cough. Concerned she might be developing M.S. (multiple sclerosis) she worked with a doctor to find out the source of her illness and was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. She transferred to a specialist and joined a clinical trial. After the clinical trial and chemotherapy, Barb went into remission for 10 years. She then became an advocate for clinical trials and also enjoys reading, her morning meditation, golf and staying active.
