Barbara Skonicki, 49, was diagnosed with CLL in early 2005 after receiving abnormal blood work. Barbara received treatment with FCR in 2008 and underwent a bone marrow transplant in 2010. She also underwent open-heart surgery in 2012. Barbara, a patient of Dr. Pinilla, learned that her CLL had returned and recently began treatment with ibrutinib. She sees Dr. Pinilla weekly and feels good, although a little achy. Barbara enjoys time with her husband and four children and walks on the beach. Her advice to others with CLL: "Keep moving and get out there! Don't create a dark cloud."
