Bill Erickson

MPN Patient Advocate

Bill Erickson was diagnosed with myelofibrosis in May 2012. Bill’s healthcare team decided a stem cell transplant was needed for his survival. He found a match through the bone marrow registry and went through with the procedure. In 2013, he was hospitalized for 10 days and no one knew with what. After that stay in the hospital, Bill’s blood counts improved, and he went off all medication. Since then, Bill is doing well and trying to return to work for the first time after diagnosis. He has dramatically changed his lifestyle in order to enjoy life with his condition. Bill is focused on taking things one day at a time and living the best he can, which he believes can be accomplished by researching information on his condition and by being his own health advocate. Bill is also actively engaged in the MPN community as an active advocate with the MPN Research Foundation, mentoring patients, sharing and inspiring others with his story.
