Bill Hayton is a retired pharmacy professor who was diagnosed in 2008 in his mid-60s with prostate cancer and was treated with a prostatectomy, external beam radiation, along with radiation therapy, and androgen deprivation therapy. He enrolled in a Phase I clinical trial in March 2017 with a checkpoint inhibitor treatment. Bill enjoys fishing and is active in a hiking group. His advice for other patients? “You have to be aggressive in treating the cancer. Be active in your care, exercise and stay physically active."
