David Shobrook was diagnosed with polycythemia vera (PV) in 1990 when he was 45 years old. Five years ago, he was told that he had developed myelofibrosis (MF). Initially, David was enrolled in two different clinical trials but was taken off when the treatment was not benefitting him. He then started seeing his current physician, Dr. Brady Stein. David began treatment with ruxolitinib (Jakafi) six months ago. He is feeling well, with minimal symptoms and gets blood work every two weeks. David is married and has three children. His advice to others is "Be positive. Have a positive attitude every day."
