Eucharia Borden, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), with minors in Anthropology and Social Welfare. She subsequently earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Temple University. She has worked in direct practice in the Greater Philadelphia area with adults living with chronic illness for nearly 20 years; the past 12 years included patients in acute inpatient and outpatient oncology settings at Lankenau Medical Center, just outside of Philadelphia County. In February 2020, she joined the Cancer Support Community as Senior Director of Clinical Services.
Eucharia is currently serving as Past President of the Association of Oncology Social Work (AOSW); she has also served as Membership Director. An invited presenter at a variety of venues, educating healthcare professionals about issues related to diversity & inclusion, cultural humility, and unconscious (implicit) bias has been the focus of many of her articles and presentations. She is an ardent advocate for equal access to care – especially for underserved communities. Eucharia was invited to serve as faculty in the University of Pennsylvania’s Advanced Certificate in Oncology Social Work program and as an Editorial Board member for the Oncology Nurse Advisor; she has also served on several other advisory boards and committees. Locally, she is an active member of the Philadelphia Social Work Oncology Group (SWOG).
