Nunny Keyla Reece was diagnosed in 2017 with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer. The lack of knowledge in the community regarding metastatic breast cancer was unacceptable to Nunny and she quickly became active in advocacy. In 2018, she was trained as a Young Advocate for Living Beyond Breast Cancer, in 2019 she became an Advocate for the Susan G. Komen North Carolina Triangle, and in 2020 she became an Angel Advocate with the Tigerlily Foundation. Nunny recently had to give up her career as a certified medical assistant after a progression to the brain, but it remains vital to her to turn a negative into a positive and talk about what it is like living with MBC by sharing her story and speaking her truth.
