Pat and Bill Fife were both born in New York City. Both are the oldest of four. Pat grew up in Westchester County, New York and attended the College of New Rochelle, before transferring to Columbia University, School of Nursing. Pat spent 40 years working in the field of nursing. She worked in the area of Maternal Child Health and later in-home health care. While working at United Cerebral Palsy of Nassau County, she established and ran a program of gynecological services and wellness care for disabled women. Her last position was Director of Patient Services for the Visiting Nurse Association of Long Island (VNA LI) where she was responsible for delivering home health care services to approximately 400 patients across the two counties of Long Island and Queens, New York. While at VNALI, Pat established a Long Term Home Health Care Program, also known as a “nursing home without walls” and a Maternal Child Health Program as well as a bereavement visit program to parents and grandparents who have lost an infant to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Pat holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Columbia University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Long Island University. She is on the Alumni Board of Columbia University, School of Nursing, and a member of the Queen of Peace Residence auxiliary committee. Her hobbies include scrapbooking and reading.
Bill grew up in New York City. He is currently a part-time Senior Consultant to a number of engineering firms and is the former Corporate Vice President and Director of Aviation Services for AECOM where he was responsible for the firm’s aviation business line. Formerly he was the General Manager of Aviation Planning and Technical Services for The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Prior to that, he was the Deputy General Manager of John F. Kennedy International Airport and also served as Chief Planner for the Port Authority. For the past thirty years, Bill has chaired a Peer Review Group of airports worldwide that includes Boston, Washington National, Dulles, Miami, Toronto, Montreal, and Las Vegas, Paris, and London among others. The group provides a valuable opportunity for airport executives and consultants to exchange strategies and ideas relevant to the challenges they face, saving the industry millions of dollars each year. In April 2001, he was recognized by Engineering News Record (ENR) as a 2000 Newsmaker for his efforts in developing and successfully implementing the peer review group process. Bill holds a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering degree from Manhattan College, a Master of Industrial Management degree from NYU, and a Master of Public Administration degree from Long Island University. He and Pat attended classes together at LIU where they were both Phi Alpha Alpha Honor Society members, as well as outstanding Alumni Award Winners for Public Service. In addition, Bill was recognized in 2014 by Professional Women in Construction(PWC) and by the ASCE MET Section as Engineer of the Year.
Bill and Pat have been married for 52 years. They currently reside in Long Island, New York. They are parents to 3 children and 5 grandchildren with a 6th due in March. They have volunteered at their church as extraordinary ministers and organizing the blood donation drive for the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Before AML and covid, they were gym rats, attending the gym every day. Now they do yoga at home. Their leisure activities include extensive traveling (pre-covid), rock & roll, playing bridge, and spending time with grandchildren.
