Randy Griffith watched his wife of 47 years go from traveling partner and golfing buddy to an exhausted, anemic cancer patient. Armed with a pen and a journal, Randy was determined to be Pam’s “cancer coach.” He took a proactive approach to arranging appointments, working with insurance companies, even sending photos of his wife’s lesion on the back of her head to Dr. Antonia. As the cancer spread and hope diminished, Randy’s notebook closed—but he never walked away. In fact, he helped Pam walk—literally—into a trial that has brought her into remission. Randy attends all of Pam’s medical appointments, and he’s still keeping notes.
