Dr. Rena Szabo is a licensed clinical psychologist who earned a Master in Education degree from National Louis University, a Master of Art degree in Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, and her Doctor of Psychology degree from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. She completed her internship and fellowship at the Alexian Brothers Health System. Dr. Szabo's interests are in the psychological and social factors that lead to the enhancement of health and the prevention and treatment of cancer. She works at the intersection of medicine and psychology to help patients with cancer, and their support teams, to address physical and emotional wellness, improve quality of life, manage stress/anxiety/depression, manage life changes, and cope with grief and loss. Her use of evidence-based practices, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and interpersonal therapy, help patients and their support team members through cancer diagnosis, treatmentand survivorship.
