Dr. Russell Szmulewitz is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago’s Department of Medicine and the Associate Director of Genitourinary Oncology. Dr. Szmulewitz earned his undergraduate degree as a double major in molecular/cell biology and religion, graduating magna cum laude from Northwestern University in Illinois. Matriculating to the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, he earned his MD and began his residency in internal medicine at New York University. Dr. Szmulewitz completed his fellowship at the University of Chicago in hematology/oncology where he also served as chief fellow. Dr. Szmulewitz is board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, and is board eligible in Hematology. He also currently serves as an ad-hoc study section member for the American Cancer Society, as well as a committee member of the University of Chicago Comprehensive Center’s Clinical Trials Scientific Review. Dr. Szmulewitz has authored or co-authored several peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters and abstracts regarding genitourinary malignancies, and has himself, been a peer reviewer for several medical journals, including International Journal of Cancer and European Urology.
