Tammy Bagley was diagnosed with polycythemia vera at age 56. She was originally misdiagnosed with atrial fibrillation when she passed out after a half-marathon. As an active runner, she questioned her diagnosis and sought a second opinion, where she was re-diagnosed with polycythemia vera. Tammy continues to work full-time and travels often for her high-stress job. She makes every effort to live well with her condition, being mindful of her eating habits, meal prepping every Sunday, and packing fresh food for her travels. She is also committed to exercise, is still a marathoner, and enjoys taking walks with a supportive group of girlfriends. Tammy has three grown children and five grandchildren who also provide support and help her cope with her condition.
