How Can We Treat Cancer-Related Fatigue?

Dr. Luke Peppone of University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, NY, discusses supplements that can be used to help cancer-related fatigue. He mentions omega 3 fats and how they have succefully shown to reduce pain. A preliminary study, measuring omega 3 versus omega 6 supplementation for fatigue among breast cancer survivors (NCT02352779), showed omega 6 fats (sourced from soybean oil) to significantly reduce fatigue, reduce pain and provide help with sleep. Dr. Peppone also mentions Guarana, an excellent herbal supplement sourced from Brazil, there are currently investigations into the use of Guarana as another form of treatment for fatigue as preliminary results are looking promising.
