Published on November 3, 2016

Dr Rajesh Lalla of University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington, Connecticut discusses the importance of supportive care in patients' cancer journeys. Thanks to improvements in cancer care we are better and better at treating diseases, but these treatments can give you a lot of side effects. This could lead to reduced doses of chemotherapy, or a break from a radiation therapy, which may negatively affect your cancer treatment. Dr Lalla highlights the role of supportive care in side effect management, so that patients can fully benefit from their cancer care. Recorded at the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) and International Society of Ocular Oncology (ISOO) 2016 Annual Meeting on Supportive Care in Cancer held in Adelaide, Australia. This programme has been supported by Helsinn, through an unrestricted educational grant to the Patient Empowerment Foundation.
